A Pride Month Poem Full of Sass, Sequins, and Spectacle

Step right up, don’t be shy,

To the gayest damn circus beneath the sky!

With a whip of glitter and a strut so bold,

Our ringmaster’s heart is ninety percent gold.

He twirls in tails, top hat askew,

Yelling, “Ladies and gents AND nonbinary too!”

With a wink that could cure all heterosexual gloom,

He summons the lions with waaaay too much perfume.

The clowns are queer, the trapeze bi-curious,

The firebreather? Flaming. No, seriously, furious.

The strongman wears heels and a sequined vest,

And the bearded lady just beat your bench press.

The elephants dance, the tigers vogue,

The acrobats kiss midair (and it’s not just a rogue).

Confetti rains down in a glittery storm,

As gender norms vanish in fabulous form.

“Be who you are!” the ringmaster shouts,

As a drag unicorn prances and sparkles about.

“I came out the closet and into the tent

Now I’m charging admission for every event!”

So here’s to the loud, the proud, the divine,

To the circus of souls who refuse to confine.

Life’s a big top, and love’s center stage

So light up your truth and break out of that cage.
